We work with two groups of wonderful volunteers who make up the SWAT (Saffron Walden Assemblies Team) and WOW (Worship on a Weekday) assemblies teams. Each term they visit a number of local schools to present a fun packed, exciting spectacular to primary school children, using visual aids to give a bible based message.

At Christmas and Easter time we hold special events at local churches, where year 5 pupils are invited to come and learn more about these major Christian festivals. Using games, craft, video clips, activity books and puppets we teach children about the significance of these times of year and consider why they are so important to Christians. Children are also given the opportunity to reflect on what Christmas and Easter mean to them personally.

You can read more about our most recent events here.

During the summer term we visit year six classes to help them prepare for the move to secondary school. The hour long session includes a retelling of the biblical story of Joseph, looking specifically at the changes, choices and challenges he faced and how he coped. Many of the challenges he faced are relatable to secondary school such as; being in unfamiliar surroundings, meeting new people and working hard. We also talk through some of the practicalities of secondary school including; homework, organisation, uniform, bullying and finding your way around.

Each child receives a copy of the Scripture Union 'It's Your Move' booklet, made possible thanks to donations from individuals and local churches.

Thank you for coming in. It really helps the pupils to hear some information from other adults apart from us.
